Everyone is very friendly and helpful here. I love this place and have recommended it to several people. I've stayed here twice this year and love the location, a block from beautiful Pacific Beach. The balcony is nice on the 3rd floor and you can relax with their coffee and pastries and see a bit of the ocean and feel the breeze. I will no doubt be visiting again in the near future. Alpha is wonderful for reservations too.
We had a reservation to go to San Diego to meet out son returning from deployment to Marine Air Base Miramar. Unfortunately his orders were changed at the last minute and his return was postponed. PB Surfside allowed us to reschedule to a later date without any cancellation or rescheduling fees. Very impressed with their accommodating service and looking forward to our stay later in the year.
Got an amazing deal through Groupon.com for this little peach of a hotel...about a two minute walk from the beach, the room we got looked like a little bungalow and was extremely quiet, no outside or neighbor noises. Beds were super comfy. Courtyard outside room was clean and pretty. No fridge, hair dryer, or iron in room but all were remedied quickly with a call to the front desk to inquire. Check in and check out was quick, no hassle. Front desk staff were a little gruff/short but not rude or incompetent, just matter of fact and FAST! and helpful when we asked questions. Didn't try the breakfast so can't comment. Parking was a bear but they did have a sister hotel less than a block away that had plenty of spaces open. Some other reviews said no pool but there was definitely a pool (people in it!); It seemed like they were possibly in transition (phone in room had different hotel name and some other oddities like the shower stall did smell funny, but the water pressure/temp was good) so I'm thinking for the price I paid I was more than happy with the few, minor exceptions that we dealt with to be that close to the beach, shops and restaurants.
I stayed at this hotel with my boyfriend for my cousins wedding. and a majority of my family stayed at the same hotel as well. when one of the grandmas needed an extra blanket bc she was cold the night before they provided very quickly and with a smile. and another grandma needed toilet paper because they stayed in the room all day and it wasn't cleaned they provided it to my aunt who was parking the vehicle. and she couldn't find a spot so the manager gave her his spot and helped her by parking the vehicle for her. and when my boyfriend and i bought a bottle of wine but forgot the corkscrew they had one with in mins. it was overall a wonderful time staying at the hotel. i would defiantly stay there again. And i don't even live in California. i live in Arizona. also the price was very reasonable for staying for a while.
